The Nature of the Beast
Spoilers: Angel lost his soul once too often. I like audience participation, so you choose the occasion. Dawn and Faith still came into the picture; Spike and Buffy still had sex. As to the rest, it matters not for this fic.
Rating: Possibly R for a tiny bit of sex.
Content: B/A(us) Alternate future reality (although who knows, might become canon if they keep slipping Angel's soul out...) and character deaths
Summary: Forever, that's the whole point, right. But how? And who?

To Kill a Cat
Spoilers: BtVS season 2. Angel never got his soul back. Oz isn’t a werewolf - yet.
Rating: NC17 for some non-consensual sex and language. There’s a bit of violence too.
Content: B/A(us) Alternate future reality
Summary: Remember Angel series 1 ‘The Ring’? Well, what if other people were after a really good fighter? A possible (although not necessarily THE) prequel to ‘The Nature of The Beast’.

Tyger, Tyger
Spoilers: BtVS season 2. Angel never got his soul back. Oz isn't a werewolf - yet. Do not get me started on who sired Spike - it's exactly as it says in this story.
Rating: NC17 for sex, some of which is non-consensual, the odd bit of bad language and some violence.
Content: B/A(us) Alternate future reality
Summary: The follow-up to 'To Kill a Cat'. If you haven't read that, it might be best if you do.

Cometh the Hour
Spoilers: BtVS season 4. Angel didn't get his soul back in season 2. Oz didn't get to be a werewolf in season 2. Do not get me started on who sired Spike - it's exactly as it says in this story.
Rating: NC17 for sex, some of which is non-consensual, and some bad language. Some of the thinking is from Angelus' point of view and it's, well, demonic.
Content: B/A(us) Alternate past reality leading to an alternate future, which is where we began, in 'The Nature of the Beast'. Keep that in mind.
Summary: The follow-up to 'Tyger, Tyger'. If you haven't read that, it might be best if you do.

Lionesses
Spoilers: BtVS season 2/3. Angel didn’t get his soul back in season 2. Do not get me started on who sired Spike - it’s exactly as it says in this story.
Rating: NC17 for sex, some of which is not entirely consensual, and for some violence. Some of the thinking is from a demonic point of view and it’s, well, demonic.
Content: B/A(us) Alternate past reality leading to an alternate future, which is where we began, in ‘The Nature of the Beast’.
Summary: In ‘To Kill A Cat’, ‘Tyger, Tyger’ and ‘Cometh the Hour’ there are passing references to Angelus and his family having a not entirely delightful stay in Egypt. A sort of holiday from Hell, in fact. I’ve been asked to make good on those allusions, so here’s the story. It’s back-story to the back-story. It might help you to read the others first, but it probably isn’t essential.
The story is told from several different points of view.

Pride
Spoilers: BtVS seasons 4/5. AtS seasons 1/4. Do not get me started on who sired Spike - it's exactly as it says in this story.
Rating: NC17 for a bit of sex, a couple of bad words, a bit of torture and some violence. Angelus is here, right? Some of the thinking is from a demonic point of view and it's, well, demonic. Oh, and there are some character deaths. Sort of.
Content: B/A/A(us) Alternate past reality leading to an alternate future, which is where we began, in 'The Nature of the Beast', and continued in 'To Kill A Cat', 'Tyger, Tyger', 'Cometh the Hour' and 'Lionesses'.
Summary: In 'Cometh the Hour' we left Angel on a hillside waiting for the sunrise. This is what happened next. It might help you to read the previous stories in this cycle first, but it probably isn't essential.
The story is told from several different points of view.

Ma'at
Spoilers: None
Rating: NC17 for a bit of sex, some of it implied non-con, some bad language, but mainly for violence and horror of that type you would have to associate with Angelus. And, as the adverts for ‘The Day after Tomorrow’ tell us, ‘Contains Extended Scenes of Peril’.
Content: B/A/A(us) alternate past reality leading to an alternate future. Follow-up to ‘Pride’.
Summary: Angelus and Buffy still aren’t on speaking terms. Angelus is not taking this well. In fact, he’s being as bad as bad can be.
This story is told from several different points of view.

Solstice
Spoilers: None
Rating: NC17 for some sex, violence and torture, but in a very tasteful way, of course…
Content: B/A/A(us) alternate past reality leads to an alternate future. Follow-up to ‘Ma’at’.
Summary: Angelus and Buffy are back together again, but is it forever this time? Do I need to buy a hat?
This story is told from several different points of view.
This is for Deb, who, after several months of correspondence, I actually met this summer. She’s as nice in person as she is in her e-mails. Look forward to the next time, Deb.

THE NATURE OF THE BEAST SERIES: CYCLE TWO

Duality
Rating: ADULT for sex and violence and torture, but in a very tasteful way, of course… Oh, and some impolite language.
Warnings: Angelus must face all sorts of dark happenings. This is not a fluffy tale, so be warned. There are a number of couplings in here, and few of them are straight M/F.
Content: B/A/A (us) Sequel to ‘The Nature of the Beast’, (the initial story, not the first series) and takes place immediately afterwards.
Summary: Buffy’s dead. This very dark tale tells of Angelus’ descent into his own personal hell, and what happens afterwards. We also find out quite a lot more about those shadowy recurrent characters, The Lady, and her Consorts, the Duality.
This story is told from several different points of view, which sometimes overlap. I hope it’s always obvious who is talking. You might ask why don’t I just label them? Well, apparently, a lot of readers derive enormous satisfaction from seeing how quickly they can identify each narrator. I aim to please…
New readers: I’ve tried to make this story as standalone as possible, but it is part of a complete story cycle, and contains references to things that happened earlier. Provided you accept that, you shouldn’t have a problem following the events that are recounted here, but you’ll get a lot more out of it if you read the others first. Honestly. Here they are: ‘The Nature of the Beast’; ‘To Kill A Cat’; ‘Tyger, Tyger’; ‘Cometh the Hour’; ‘Lionesses’; ‘Pride’; ‘Ma’at’; ‘Solstice’; ‘Pax’.
Author’s notes: In this part of the cycle, author’s notes are at the end. Read them now, or read them at the end, just as you please. Or, since they explain some of the things that you will read about, split the screen and read them as you get to the appropriate bits.
The tenth story in ‘The Nature of the Beast’ story cycle, and the first in part 2. Or second, if you count the original story as 1. Tricky things, cycles. Hard to know where they start and where they end. You’ll know what I mean, if you’ve read all the rest.

Hound of Heaven
Rating: ADULT for sex and violence and torture, but in a very tasteful way, of course… You should be used to this by now... But, this story deals with a couple of difficult subjects. You’ve been warned.
Summary: Buffy’s back from the dead. So everything’s going to be alright, isn’t it? Isn’t it?
Content: B/A/A (us) Sequel to ‘Duality’ and takes place immediately afterwards.
Distribution: The Angel Texts http://www.octavesoftheheart.com/angeltexts/ You want it? Really? Gosh. Just tell me where it’s going please.
Disclaimer: None of these characters are mine. If they were, I’d look after them better. No money will ever be made from this fic.
This story is told from several different points of view. I hope it’s always obvious who is talking. You might ask why don’t I just label them? Well, apparently, a lot of readers derive enormous satisfaction from seeing how quickly they can identify each narrator. I aim to please…
